The list of apples grown at Queener Farm in Scio, OR includes many colorful names that span the alphabet: Alkemene, Coles Quince, Flowers of Kent, Hidden Rose, Lubsk Queen, Sansa, Yellow Bellflower and Zabergau Reinette are just a few of more than 100 unique apple varieties on the farm. (more…)

An ounce of prevention keeps organic tomatoes healthy

Dr. Lori Hoagland, Purdue University, said that tomatoes are one of the most important vegetable crops in the world. “Organic and local production is increasing throughout the nation,” she said. “Tomatoes have a lot of production issues, so the driving force behind the project was to learn more about the production challenges in order to answer them.” (more…)
